1969 – BDP’s Glasgow studio is opened
Many people over the years have helped build our reputation in Scotland for design excellence. Former studio head Sandy Fergusson, who retired in 2011, led on a range of innovative projects, including the titanium-clad double curvature structure for the Glasgow Science Centre and the timber grid shell for Napier University. Tom Murray, who worked with us for over 30 years until his retirement in 2017, was project lead on Perth Concert Hall – a 1,200 set performing arts centre and numerous retail mixed-use schemes including Elements Square.
Our experience in the education sector over the past 50 years has become extensive delivering projects such as Robert Gordon University Garthdee campus, the Learning and Teaching Building at the University of Strathclyde, Maidenhill Primary School and Nursery, Eastwood High School and the refurbishment of Grade B listed Marr College.
Due to the breadth of experience and skills in our team today, we are working across many sectors both in domestic and overseas markets from Edinburgh St James and Glasgow Queen Street station to masterplans in China and schools in the Netherlands.
